The divorce between Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich is set to become final in 2020.
As a result, they are no longer a couple. Almost two years after saying they were done, Julianne Hough and Brooks Laich finalised their divorce.
Us Weekly has learned exclusively that a court granted Hough, 33, and Laich, 38, a divorce on Friday, June 10. The terms of the deal are currently unknown to the general public. To the contrary, TMZ broke the story first.
The ballroom dance expert has set their wedding date for November 2020. Hough submitted a Declaration for Uncontested Dissolution in February 2022, and Us affirmed that the permitted process was proceeding at that time. According to the paperwork we obtained for the research, “the parties have signed a written agreement outlining their property and their marital or domestic partnership rights, including support.”
The couple tied the knot in July 2017 but separated almost three years later. They issued a joint statement in May of 2020 saying, “We have taken the love and cautious time we needed to come to this choice.” We’ll continue to make decisions based on how we feel about each other, which is a lot, because we love and respect one other so much. We hope that from this point forward you will treat us with consideration and keep our personal affairs to yourselves.
As far as we understood at the time, the breakup was inevitable because the couple “argued a lot and just had different viewpoints on fundamental topics.”
The Dancing With the Stars alum took to social media two months after the breakup to publish a mysterious quote that seemed to describe how she was feeling. When you’re feeling down and out and hopeless, it can help to think about how you can be of service to someone else who is in a worse position than you are. In July of 2020, a sentence on her Instagram Story read, “Selfless acts of service offer the giver extra life force energy.”
Despite rumours to the contrary, Laich has moved on with Icelandic athlete Katrn Tanja Davsdóttir after his previous relationship with her ended. Following the dissolution of her marriage, the Footloose starlet has been linked to actors Ben Barnes and Charlie Wilson. Utah native Derek Hough, Julianne’s brother, told Us in October 2020 that he was doing his best to be there for both of them.
Derek, who was 36 at the time, said at the time, “All you want is for the people around you to be happy, and for you to support and serve them.” To put it another way: “That is the crux of the matter. When I am of service to others, I am at my happiest. Sometimes I’m just waiting for someone to take the seat next to me. The choreographer questioned whether or not that was what they all wanted. Ultimately, we just want everyone to be happy, even our loved ones. And we would be glad to assist you if we can.
