The movie hasn’t made more than Rs 65 crore in its second week of release. Audiences hated it, thus its Rs 200 crore budget was quickly eaten up by the loss. Many movie theatres have cancelled the opening night showings of their films. The film is currently getting ready for its digital distribution to make up for its lacklustre box office performance. The film has a budget of Rs 62 crores and is currently in competition. The movie reportedly has a production budget of Rs 200 crores and may go over budget by more than Rs 65 crores. In a tweet, one of the most prominent business analysts said that audiences had rejected the film. Shows are being cancelled primarily due to a lack of viewers. The film is almost ready for its digital distribution.
When it first hit theatres on June 3, 2022, Samrat Pritthviraj only had a few weeks before it was available on Amazon Prime Video. In other words, due to low attendance, any of the films could debut earlier than planned. Timeline details for the film’s anticipated online debut are still being finalised. The movie’s OTT debut, however, won’t be delayed for long. Jayeshbhai Jordaar, starring Ranveer Singh, had a similar issue when it was launched on the same digital platform a few weeks earlier.
Just one crore was made on the first day of its second week of showings. Around eighty percent of tickets were turned down at the box office. Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Miss Universe Manushi Chillar’s attractiveness played little role in the box office success of the film. The film’s producers are disappointed with its $1 million in earnings after 11 days.
It doesn’t matter how much competition the picture has, production problems persist. Aditya Chopra, along with Yash Raj Films, commissioned Chandraprakash Dwivedi to rewrite and polish the script.
